The Pioneer of โ€œWarang Chitiโ€ the script for Ho language was born in the village named Paaseya of Singbhum District (KOLHAN), Jharkhand in a traditional Manki family on 19th September 1919. His fatherโ€™s name was Lebeya Bodra & Mother was Jana Kui. Early life of Lako Bodra He got his primary education at Badcham Hatu School. After completion of primary education he got admitted at Puruiyan Middle School. During his schooling he was highly influenced by the subject โ€œMatru Bhasa ki Mahatwaโ€ which was written by Acharya Mahaveer Prasad Dwibedi. After that, he was sent to GRAMMAR SCHOOL (also known as Anglo-Indian School) at Chakradharpur. Due to his extra ordinary talent and learning skills he was counted among the best students in the school. He got opportunity to visit library of the Royal King family. There he started searching for ancient literature and Ho script with his best efforts. He soon developed his command over Bangla, Odiya, Urdu, Hindi and English during High School period.While studying at Zilla School, Chaibasa, he met Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda, who was the great Tribal Leader of Freedom Movement and first Captain of Indian Hockey Team. He became closer to Jaipal Singh Munda due to his extra ordinary talent on language and literature. During Second World War, he got opportunity to visit Jalandhar(Punjab) with Dishum Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda. There he visited MOHENJO-DARO, HARAPPA and other various part of undivided-India. In Mohenjo Daro and Harappa, he observed DIRI SASAN, ILI MATIA and other evidences which he could connect present day culture and traditions of Ho People. He studied B.Sc degree in Homeopathy from JALANDHAR CITY COLLEGE, Punjab. Warng Chiti Recognition and Lako Bodra After returning from successful completion of studies at Punjab, he visited various places, hills, forests, historical monuments, prominent persons and devoted his whole life for development of Ho script. In the year 1950 after long years of dedicated and meticulous study he discovered a distinct script designed to write Ho language which he named as โ€˜Warang Chitiโ€™. He believed that the same was invented by Deowan Turi in 13th Century. He established โ€˜Ete Turtung Pitika Akalaโ€™ at Jhinkpani in the year 1955 to initiate research in ancient culture and to spread Warang Chiti education. It was very hard task for him to popularise the script among masses and get it recognised by Govt. He created disciples to take it to larger public. He also met Jawaharlal Nehru in 1958 and Indira Gandhi in 1976 to apprise them about his research findings about the ancient culture of India. After series of meetings, brain storming and persuasions with Ho people and social organisations, it was in the year 1984 at a conference of Ho-Munda people organised by leading Ho social organisation Sidahora Susar Akala at Singda, Mayurbhanj, the entire Ho community accepted Warang Chiti after thorough critical review, intense debate and discussion to be promoted to write Ho language and spread education in Ho Language. The script with scientific and spiritual explanation of each and every alphabet after that has been used by Ho people to write Ho language and literature. Revolution in Ho literature and Script Kol Guru Lako Bodra wanted to provide a specially designed script for Ho language which he was successful after lots of hardship. The attempt made by him has revolutionized the field of Ho literature and script. His seminal works on Ho culture, religious beliefs, Ho world view and scientific book on script are of highest standard. He has explained in details about the Ho ancient history, mythology, festivals and rituals which will be milestone for Ho community. It has guided and will show the path to entire Ho community for long time. Today Ho people across the states of Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal are working with their own capacity to spread the script among Ho people. Some of the books written by him are as follows: 1. Saar Hora (7 parts): Its deals with ancient religious beliefs of Ho community, the Ho world view and the detailed description about festivals of Ho community. 2. Pompo: This book is about Warang Chiti and the scientific explanation of each Alphabet of Warang Chiti 3. Baa Buru Bonga Buru 4. Ho Bakana ( Ho Grammar) 5. Aieda Holo ah Seba Sala 6. Warang Chiti Initu 7. Shisu Halang 8. Sanagom Sali 9. Ho Hayam Paam Puti 10. Sala Suda Sagen 11. Ela ol itu uta Today, Kol Lako Bodra stands tall among the best people born in Ho society. However, his ideas needed to be spread among wider public to see Ho as united community.
